Thursday 29th September – walk ***** – Martlesham Creek including lunch at Kyson Point – sunny and warm with light winds, just perfect:).

Wow what a day, the Autumn weather was just stunning today, sunny but with some top fluffy white clouds and surprisingly warm, hot enough for me to do my exercises in the back garden while Mag was busy putting her garden to bed for the winter, collecting loads of green tomatoes to make chutney with :) It would have been an ideal day for a bike ride but Mag said she needed some horse manure for her compost so I made a picnic and we headed out in the van to Newbourne where Mag was over the moon to buy bags of manure for £2, bargain, she is so easily pleased:) We then had a choice of walking venues, Newbourne Springs, Hemley Church, Waldringfield but ended up going a little bit further parking up at Martlesham Church and were glad we did as it was absolutely stunning having a wonderful, peaceful walk with a top picnic at the boat shed at Kyson Point! We were a little over dressed as it was lovely and warm, definitely t-shirt weather, at least I still have my shots on! We started walking through Martlesham Church then down to the creek which was approaching high water, we hoped we could make it to Kyson as the path floods at high water! We ambled around the creek with beautiful reflections in the still water, swans gliding past with a buzzard circling overhead and we made it over the section of footpath that floods only to find we could not each the boatshed as the Rive Deben was too high. We retraced our footsteps a little way, climbed over the fence and quickly walked across the private bit, I am sure no one would have minded and there was just enough concrete ramp left to enjoy our picnic with amazing views across the rive including the tide mill at Woodbridge. There was a lot of people out enjoying the beautiful day on the water including several old sailing dinghies. With the tide still coming in we had just enough time to finish lunch before getting wet feet! We then started the walk back but now the path was covered in water, Mag got wet feet while I took my shoes and socks off and paddled:) Then back past the small marina, up through the trees and back to the van, an ideal afternoon, just love living in Suffolk in a world that seems to be falling apart it is very comforting to get lost here:)
There is a spell of wild weather coming but it is looking like the worst will pass through Friday night, might even get a windsurf tomorrow before the rain arrives and Saturday is looking very promising for the first sail in October:)
